Orbitz or Travel Agent?

I'm goign to Spain in about 4 weeks and need to get this trip booked like now. I've been working with a travel agent but she's been calling off work and hasn't gotten much done for me. Is booking a trip of this magnitude through Orbitz not a good idea? the prices seem to be about the same as through and travel agent and pretty organized with Orbitz. Thanks.

If you're just looking at airfare, go through Orbitz and skip the agent.

If you're looking at more than that use an agent, in particular one who is familiar with the type of vacation you're looking for. Some agents specialize in types of vacations (like cruises or all inclusives) while others specialize in destinations.

If your trip is complicated, use an agent. If you have problems you always know who to turn to, the same can't be said for Orbitz. If you're not happy with the service your current agent is providing you - fire them. You didn't sign a contract and you don't have to work with an agent your not comfortable with!

Plus, doesn't Orbitz charge a service fee when you book with them? 99.999% of travel agents DON'T charge service fees.

If you feel you can handle it yourself, definitely go through Orbitz. Or get another travel agent.

Without a travel agent you are on your own !!

Get another agent. Some of them can get you a better deal than Orbitz.

On line travel agencies show mostly published fares.

For international flight ask your travel agent to get a flight from a consolidator, which can run 20 to 30% lower fare.
