Anyone know where i can get cheap tickets?

I've been looking for the last few weeks. All the tickets are very expensive!! My travel dates are 8/25 - 9/1 OR 9/22-9/29. Ive checked kayak.com, priceline, orbitz, hotwire, travelocity and i even went to JTBUSA.com, which is a travel agency, but all of the fares are $1100+. I would really like to spend in the $800 range but if &1000 is the cheapest, i guess it will have to do. Any help would be great ly appreciated. Im traveling from Orlando to Narita, or i could travel from New York City to Narita

Ive gone to japan before for abt $800 dollars roundtrip but im not sure abt any reputable travel agencies that can get me tickets. I've heard the cheapest way to travel to asia is thru an asian travel agency but i dont want to give my credit info to a company i cant trust.

http://www.traveljapan.com.au/

http://www.no1-travel.com/

HIS and No1 Travel are 2 travel agents in Japan. I used No.1 Travel. They speak English and are very good. Maybe you'll have better luck with them.

Because gasoline prices is raising up in the world.

Any transportation cost is higher than before.

Try to find more agency.

Where are you?

I know there's an famous asian travel agency named lions travel company,it also has branch offices in Canada and USA, I think it's reliable, try to ask them about ticket.

http://www.liontravel.com/ (click English version)

or try

Expedia:

http://www.expedia.com/default.asp?afmcid=nav.exp.mis.expeida

Good luck !

i dont think you can get anything less then that. how long ago was it $800? airline prices have went up alot in the past few years. im flying to japan for $1200 next month.(through travelocity)

also, try booking on a tuesday or wednesday.. i saved $300-500 waiting till after the weekend..

You should be able to get a cheaper ticket for your date in Sept. August might still be expensive.

You could also try mobissimo.com.

I bought tickets for December a couple days ago--the cheapest price I found was on expedia.

Maybe it would be worth it to depart from another city??

Cheap international flights?

Besides the usual online travel agencies (Orbitz, Expedia, Travelocity, etc.) where can I find cheap international flights for Africa and England?

Be very very careful of cheap flights at the moment because so many travel agents are going bust! You could easily find yourself out of pocket.

"18K Travel"

www.18ktravel.com

lol u not been watching the news? anyway ryanair and easyjet are 2 budget airlines in the UK

Check out igougo and vayama as well. I haven't done a ton of international travel, but those were the main sites I looked at. rightflight.org might have a few more international flight websites listed.

try kayak.com

and some of the airlines sites.

Anybody know of a good website to find afforable airline tickets???

I've tried all the typical sites like Orbitz, expedia, Travelocity and Sidestep....anybody have any other ideas? I'm on a TIGHT budget and need to see my family! We are flying Denver to Portland, OR August 2-August 9. I can't spend over 220 per person (there are two of us)...we are also traveling with an infant, so unfortunately priceline.com is out too because we need a direct flight...

Thanks everyone!

Be carful if you are not using one of the major sites.....if the price is too cheap to be true it just might be. I would advise against buying tickets from a website that you do not fully trust.

Southwest Airlines is The Cheapest and Best Airline!

NOTE:They don't have Meals,Just crakers,Soda and Nuts

expedia.com

expedia.com

Just got hubby round trip from LAX to MSP non stops for 271. Best prices by far and I checked everywhere. By the way, the best prices come on there little download fare alert. Not the site.

Cheaptickets.com is the best !

Sometimes the best way to find the best air these days is within 2 weeks of your travel date. This is when the airlines are trying to get rid of any excess inventory and when consolidators have the best negotiating room because once a flight takes off the airline loses money on any unsold seats.

If it is possible, try not to be in a panick and really try to wait until you are within 2 weeks as most of the fares will stay the same until then and then gradually come down. If you absolutely must book before you are within 2 weeks of your travel, then try http://www.discounttravelaccess.com . I've found that rates on this site stay pretty consistantly low even up to the day of travel. Good Luck to you

There are many good websites where you can find exciting offers running on airfares. As far as my personal experience is concerned, I would suggest Cheapoair.com

Pal

spiritair.com they don't go everywhere in the world but try it.

You can try www.cheapoair.com . I know they have pretty good rates. Also try www.cfares.com.

I'm not sure that you'll find any cheaper flights, but as a search engine, Kayak.com is pretty cool. It lists all the airlines (unlike some sights which leave out some, like Jet Blue) and you can narrow down your search easily. The coolest part, I think, is that they have a line graph of how the prices of that itinerary have changed over the past 90 days. It's very user-friendly. And then, of course, if you find a set of flights you want, if they're on the same carrier, you generally save $5 by buying the ticket on the airline's website directly. Any of the search engines jack up the price for convenience. Good luck!

There is a list of great cheap travel sites at http://www.travelbargainsites.com One site lets you compare the prices of all the airlines.

I usually use the sites you have mentioned but will give you a few tips. Most airline tickets get more expensive the closer to the departure date you get. You should try to purchase your tickets at least 3 weeks in advance to get the best fare. Southwest Airlines is a shorter timeframe which, I believe is 2 weeks from date of departure. Also, to get Southwest prices you need to go to their site directly. I don't believe they use those other sites. Sometimes when you call the airline directly....usually around midnight...you might be able to find a cheap rate because they will get cancellations. Good luck!

What web site overs the very, very best wed deals for traveling?

I go on Southwest, AA, US Airways, Expedia, Orbitz, Hotwire, Travelocity....any other ideas?

Have you tried Hotels.com ?

If I miss a flight or a connection, do I lose my money?

I've never traveled before and I'm taking long flight this summer with one stop in Houston and then straight to Seattle, my destination. I'm thinking of booking my flight online through orbitz.com, If by any chance I lose my flight, or my connection in Houston... Do I lose my money? Do I get some credit? What if it's not my fault? (Example the 1st plane got delayed, and the connection did not waited for me)

If you book flights that come as a connection (i.e. you book from your origin to Seattle, and they come with connections as opposed to direct) - then the connecting flight will wait for the first flight if it's delayed. If YOU book them separately, ie. you book from your origin to Houston, then separately from Houston to Seattle, then the second flight will not 'wait for you' - they don't know you're on a delayed flight. So, even though it would not be your fault, you will lose your money. Travel insurance covers things like if the flight is delayed overnight, they might pay for your accommodation etc - but different packages vary wildly, so check with your insurer. Generally, if you miss your flight, it's too bad, so sad. I'm not sure what you mean by "If by any chance I lose my flight" - I don't know how you can lose your flight? Unless you opt to.

Just be early! It is better to sit around the airport for half an hour, than be running your butt off because you're going to be late, and end up in traffic or something like that! Enjoy your trip.

Sometimes the airline will hold the next flight for you if your first one is delayed. However, in most situations they will not hold the flight as they are not going to delay 120 people for one missed connection. However, if there are a lot of missed connections, they may delay the flight.

If you do miss the 2nd flight as a result, the airline will look to get you on the next available flight to your destination.

If the delay is the reslt of a controllable error (maintanace delay, crew delay) they they will mosty likely try and put you in a hotel and give you food voucers if the next flght is not until the next day.

If the delay was uncontrollable (weather, ATC) they the airlines mostly do not provide that type of assistance.

If you miss the aircraft and it is your fault, the airline will try and put you on the next available aircraft.

In short, if you miss your 2nd flight, either through an airline error or yours, the airline will most likely put you on standby for the next available flight.

Have a great trip...

If it is the airline's fault, then they are responsible and they will try to accomodate you on another airline.

Tips for finding cheapest airfare?

Ive already tried the major airline webpages, expedia, orbitz, priceline, etc...any not so well known travels sites? is it really cheaper to buy in the middle of the night? any tips? thanks!

http://www.farecompare.com because it shows you the cheapest published fares on routes--regardless of airline, days, times, etc.--and you track it down on a calendar that shows available days at that fare. Just checksee if Southwest, Allegiant, or other low-cost airlines that don't allow 3rd party bookings, are on your route--check your airport's website for a list of airlines serving it. This+Farecompare=Cheapest Airfares.

Booking through the airline's website is almost always cheaper than booking through those websites. Those sites almost never have cheaper fares than the airline - 99% of the time the fare is exactly the same - and they charge "booking fees" so they're actually more expensive than the airline's website. You can always check those sites to see which airline has the lowest fare but I would go to the airline's website as well. Also if you're flying to somewhere that one of the "low-fare" airlines (i.e. JetBlue, Southwest Airlines) flies, then check their websites too - although they're often not the cheapest either.

Kayak is OK, but nothing beats a real travel agent who actually knows how to access wholesale airline fares. (Not just any agent who took some kind of course and then worked for a major travel retailer.) The sites you mentioned don't even compare to what you can get from a Canadian travel agent, and in fact are extremely expensive. Try a company called Emerald travel in Petawawa, Ontario. Can't go wrong.

try kayak.com its the best ive found

Turks in foreign land! When and where do you buy your airline tickets from?

Also how long do you stay in Turkey? Do you have a favourite airline carrier? How long was your longest travel?

Turks living in Turkey please do not answer this question. I have an another question coming for you :)

I usually buy my tickets in March from orbitz.com for June and stay for 3 months. I prefer American or British airways because of their service quality. My longest travel was 26 hours. I missed my plane because of the delays.

i buy from Internet. my longest travel was 16 hours. British airways, Thomas cook,KLM, easy jet..... etc... i am in the UK. my funniest annoying moment was when i was flying from Amsterdam to Istanbul, . Turks from Holland was so annoying low mannered creators . not one single of them helped me to carry my sons pushchair to the plane or put my bag up . and they kept making animal noises when my son cried in the plane. still gets on my nerves. but British and dutch people were SO helpful to me . never underestimate European manners.

Ok I wont answer :)

Once on a THY flight from JFK to IST, a few rows up there was a used motion discomfort bag left in the seat pocket from the previous flight. Ew!

ive been flying to and from turkey for ever and we (me n the fam) alaways go klm ...weve gone british airways a few tiems and delta, the longest time on the plane is 13 hours, but not all at once in a 8 houflight then 5 hour

Cheap airfare to eastern europe?

I live in the USA, around D.C (so airports- Washington Dulles, BWI, JFK, any of those are good departure points), but all of my family is in Lithuania in Eastern Europe.

I visited them last year and in 2008 I would love to visit them again. My only problem is airfare is so expensive. Last year I paid $1,300 a person (myself, my wife, and son).

Does anybody have any tips? I know I should be flexible with dates and airports and I am. I want to departe in the summer-June or July and stay for about 4 weeks.

Anybody have a travel agent they would like to recommend or a secret website, insted of orbitz, kayak, travelocity, etc.

Would it be better for me to book in 2007 or would it be better to book 6-8 weeks prior in 2008?

It's just that June and July are two of the most expensive months to travel transatlantic. Sometimes, it's a little cheaper if you can depart in early June.

You need to try airfare consolidators. They specialise in discounted international flights, and are often cheaper that other sources in peak season. You can check consolidators, and specials from the airlines, using http://www.bookingbuddy.com -- pay special attention to Mobissimo and AllCheapFares when you search with Bookingbuddy.

Also, consider going on 2 tickets: 1 to Copenhagen, for example, then separate ticket to Vilnius. Icelandair from BWI is often cheap(er) to Scandinavia into early June. You can sign up for their specials at http://www.icelandair.com Also, consider flying to one of these first: http://www.whichbudget.com/en/cheapflights.php?from=VNO ... then switch to LAL or Air Baltic on a separate ticket. Sometimes this is significantly cheaper.

Finally, Lufthansa has decent fares targeted to specific audiences. I don't hear them advertised much: http://www.weflyhome.com

Hi,

You can get very useful info related to air tickets from http://www.bestdealsononline.com . Check it out! Happy Journey!!

They are many reliable travel agencies in DC. Just go to them instead trying to get ripped off from the on-line ones.

You can try http://www.cheapoair.com . My personal experience with them so far has been good. So you can try it. Happy Journey....

When is the least expensive time to go to N.Y.C?

I'm hoping to go sometime next year ( it'll take me that long to save up the $). I would like to stay for a week, but a weekend might be more affordable. How do those travel sites ( orbitz, hotels.com ,etc.) work? Which one has the best deals? Thanks you so much for any info that you can give me.

Girl, what chu talking about? NYC is expensive PERIOD.

One way car rental?

I need to pick-up a mid-size car at Denver, CO Airport on 7/5/07 at noon, and drop it at Portland, OR Airport on 7/19/07 at 6:30 AM. I've been to Travelocity, Orbitz, Yahoo Travel, Priceline, and even my local travel agent. The best that anyone can offer is $875.00 with Budget Rent-A-Car. That's awfully high!

Does anyone out there have an alternative from these "main stream" rental options?

Many thanks for your answer.

One-way rentals are usually more expensive anyway. However, I've found that Enterprise is a little cheaper in general. Also, if there is ANY WAY that you can pick up the car at a non-airport location (like take a taxi to a nearby suburban location), that can make it cheaper as well. Check out their website for alternative locations and see if the prices are any better. Same thing with dropping it off.

How much is an airline ticket from JFK (New York) to Arusha, Tanzania? ?

The dates would be from july 7-july 16

I checked on Orbitz but it said there was an error.

If there is a travel agent or someone that could tell me the cost of a ROUND TRIP ticked i would really appreciate it!

there is no flight directly from ny to arusha, because arusha is a small airport and only operates internal flights.

try other cities in tanzania that have airports, and get a connection from there to arusha.

i recommend zanzibar. a round trip from ny to zanzibar and back costs around 2300$ with 2 connections, for example in amsterdam (netherlands) and nairobi (kenya).

try ny to zanzibar on expedia.com or another site and check out your dates.

you can also try another airport in tanzania, dar es salaam. ny to dar es salaam, round trip, almost 2000$, with connections.

then, take a bus or a low cost airline to arusha.

new york move to Australia we have public health cover

make it in a nother month

Is traveling with a 6month old baby free on airplane?

I go to travelocity.com and orbitz.com. They have options for 2 years old and +.

Why do they not ask for children under 2? Are they free?

I got a quote on a airplane ticket but not sure if it's right because the website did not ask me if i had my 6 month old with me....

Under 2 they are free if they sit on your lap. If they require a seat then you have to pay.

You don't need to buy a seat for a baby under 2 years and don't need to pay. However, you also don't get an additional luggage allowance. Most airlines allow you to check in items such as pram and portacot without charge, but these may use a percentage of your luggage allowance. When I flew with my daughter, I checked in her pram and carseat without charge, but they counted as 5kg of my 20kg luggage allowance.

Some airlines will allow you to purchase a seat for your baby if you want to ,but this isn't always possible.

Babies under 2 years old are free. I rode Greyhound and my son (10.5 months) was free on the bus as well. But if the plane is crowded then you may end up having to hold your baby in your arms the whole time since you only paid for one seat. I was lucky enough to have an extra seat for him to play around in and sleep on.

Children under 2 can ride in your lap, so you don't have to buy a seat.

Some airlines offer half price tickets for children under 2, so they can ride in a car seat.

Call the airline you will be using to verify everything so you're not surprised by anything.

They dont normally ask for information on younger than two year olds because they are expected to sit on your knee.

I fly with thomas cook and my 6 month old is free but has no seat. And dont forget, if they have no seat, they are not aloud to have a suitcase...they will share yours.

Have a good flight!

Technically children under the age of 2 ride for free and are considered lap passengers.

In my experience, if the plane is not full then the airline will let your child (and/or their car seat) sit in the seat next to you.

If your baby under 2 years old wants a seat you have to pay the child fare. If your baby will sit on your lap your baby is free. If you want a seat for your baby just click the age 2+ box.

yes

they like to know if you have a child or mobility issues, so they can decide where to seat you

if mobility sometimes they will let you get off first, other times last ...

Yes, under 2 you can choose to have them sit on your lap for free. :)

Yes, if you want them on your lap. But if you want there own seat then you need to pay for that.

They don't get a seat unless you pay for it, however, they can sit in your lap for free.

its usually if they take up a seat it's a normal fare

if not then it's free

if your travelling locally its free..if its international half or it depends on the airline

Yes, under two they are free

yes, if she/he stay in your lap. since they dont take a whole seat, you dnt need to pay for it

they are free up until two

Am I the only one who get's annoyed by people who ask really dumb questions here?

For example: How much does it cost to fly from _____ to _____? For gosh sakes, why ask that question here? Why not go to Yahoo Travel, of Orbitz, etc. And the questions like: Am I hot? Puuuleeeeze! Does anyone else here agree?

You are not the only one. There are many more that think they are superior to everyone else than just you, love.

An intelligent person can learn more from a stupid question than a stupid person can ever learn from an intelligent question - A quote, but I forget who said it.

Thanky!

To me the most annoying questions are the ones by teenage boys trying out their newly discovered sex words.

You do have a point about the personal questions (Do you like my avatar, etc.).

I don't really mind the questions that need links to Orbitz and other common sites. Maybe they really don't know where to look for the answer.

I totally agree with you.

The person who stated that there is no such thing as a stupid question obviously never went on yahoo answers........

You are not alone.........I cannot believe some of the dumb questions people ask and they can't spell or speak properly.

yes i do, and i see an awful lot of those questions on this site..i think alot of these people are just kids that are bored.

HA AHAAAAHHHHH!!!!!

Yes it is! Aggravates me to no end.

But maybe they are not dumb to them.

And if you never ask well you will never know.

Thank you littleflower for asking that wonderful question!!!! It's so annoying to see some of the perverted, sex, penis size, what are you wearing, and what kind of purse should i buy? questions!!!!!!!! Just to name a few.

Where can I get free flight quotes?

Are there travel agents online and other sites that I can get free flight price quotes from?

I'm going to be flying from Burlington Vermont to Brisbane Australia in May. And I want to find the cheapest flights I can.

I've looked on Orbitz, cheaptickets, cheapOair, travelocity, expedia, priceline, vayama, sidestep, kayak already.

I'm just wondering what others there are, links please?

Thank you

I use bookingbuddy.com, they will search Orbitz, Priceline and all of the other sites for you at the same time and give you results for all of them in one shot.

Good luck and hope you have a safe trip.

A really good online travel agency is Liberty Travel. They don't give how much the price of a flight ticket is online, just the base. You have to inquire for a ticket price, and the agency will contact you with their price.

I would just call the airlines directly, they don't charge a fee for checking prices.

At 1 a.m. I get a call from travel agency canceling my flight?!!!!?

I just got a call from orbitz saying my non stop flight in 18 hours has been cancelled and I can either move my flight up 6 hours or move it behind 12 hours. I am in shock. I was to go visit my mom on her birthday while she is in the hospital and coincidentally I actually purchased these tickets 9 months ago. neither moving up or back works for me. i really just want to fly when i had planned even if they have to change the airline. what are my options in this? I was told that I can move up or back but refund and using someone else wasn't an option.

Yes this is one problem with Orbitz, Expedia. Also keep in mind I always say get Insurance, Protects you.

I would try http://www.vacationsnbeyond.com

Obviously the agent acts on the reprotection policy from the airline you are using. Schedule change unfortunately occur in airlines all the time and as annoying as they are, airlines don't do it on purpose to annoy people but it is always due to operational reasons, ie change in airport slots, repositioning of aircrafts etc. I know it's a pain but not much you can do about it. airlines will offer you alternative flights but if nothing works for you then they always offer a full refund so if your agent says it's not the case then you have two options

1) call back the agent and ask them to get a written copy of the airline reprotection policy in full

2) call the airline directly and ask them what their reprotection policy is

Good luck and hope you can sort it. They won't put your flight back to what it was and won't offer compensation (an airline contract with the passenger is to take you from A to B which is what they are doing as far as they are concerned) but hopefully you can work out something

Thats why you don't book with Orbitz or any of those cheapy sites. Shall you booked with a travel agent or an airline, there would have been more flexibility avaliable to you and some airlines do sometimes check with other airlines for additional seats in your circumstances.

That's why I tell people every day to go via the airline website or the travel agent. The cheapy sites can get ya at any time they want!

Those SOB's

At least you got a call. And the 6-12 hour differential just doesn't seem like a deal breaker to me, especially after all the flight delay stories this year. I say suck it up and go visit yer ma.

since you purchased those tickets 9 months ago, the cost of the trip has gone up EMENCELY due to the recent upsurge in the cost of gasoline....they cannot put you on another airline because the ticket would cost THEM more that way and it would be taken as a present booking which makes it even MORE costly... (you know the closer to a flight you purchase the tickets, the more you pay)... SO, I DO understand why they couldn't put you on another flight... as for a refund, then you wouldn't be going to see your mother at all and there MIGHT have been a NO REFUND POLICY on those tickets when you purchased them.... you have to check on these things whenever you buy ANYTHING especially online.... Just move the trip to 12 hours from now rather then 18, and surprise your mom early..... better then being LATE isn't it?

What do you think is the best online travel service?

Like Orbitz, etc. Travelocity RoYALLY screwed up a trip I took recently, including the trip DaTES and not booking us on a return flight! (I proved to the people on the phone that there was NO way that I could have booked a one-way trip because I booked "flight and hotel" together. There is not a "one-way" trip option when the trip is booked that way.) Their "guarantee" is apparently BS. I have contacted several higher-ups in the company and have gotten no response whatsoever. So, yes, I have tried that option as well.

Thanks in advance for your help and stories!

I used travelocity, and it worked great! Sorry to hear this happened to you.. Personally, I always go on tours now, and let them do the booking. =) Maybe try Price-Line

Kayak, because it compares the price from hotels.com, orbitz, travelocity, ect and lets you get the best price out of the travel sites.

I actually have my own travel website www.jsgetaway.com and the prices usually beat others. There is also good staff located in OH to take care of any problems. You could give it a try if you would like

Good Luck

Is There A Way To Find A Travel Destination From Your Location Based On PRICE ???

Okay, here's the scoop: I'm open to making a spontaneous trip in January going ANYWHERE I can get cheap airfare. Is there a site where I can just type in my departure airport, dates for the trip, and leave the destination OPEN, with them giving me a selection of destinations based on price?

This is a very specific question so please don't give me generic responses like 'orbitz' or whatever that won't do what I am asking for.

Thanks and happy holidays!

Farecompare will do this for you. For example, here's all published fares currently from Chicago to everywhere in the world, sorted by cheapest first: http://www.farecompare.com/maps/compareDestinations.html?departure=CHI Click on your destination continent, then choose the outbound month and week, and it updates all of the results to show only what's on offer on that route on that specific outbound week. You can easily update that page (link I made for you) with your city, and just click "change" to see cheapest airfares from your home airport.

Believe it or not a travel agent might be your best bet. I have tried to online sites and they were more expensive than the travel agent that I booked with online.

Enjoy your trip

Hi,

Try Skyscanner.net... I think it's pretty much what you are looking for.

You don't need to add specific destinations, dates, etc...

Hope it helps,

Paul.

eNJOY!!!

What's your take on these travel web sites and their hotel rates?

Well, here's the deal, I've been to these different sites to try and find a hotel in the heart of Downtown Detroit and some seem to be better than others obviously. This is my observation so far:

PRICELINE- Decent but only gives you subtotals which kinda sucks. and their prices were a little higher.

TRAVELOCITY- Better b/c they give you the subtotal as well as the tax inc. cool beans and they had a better rate for same hotel as I checked on priceline.

ORBITZ- They're ok

HOTELS.COM- They're ok as well

HOTWIRE.COM- Didn't like one bit their whole set up where they want your name as if they're going to set up booking right on the spot and don't tell you their suppliers until after you book. What the hell is up with that... no way!

EXPEDIA.COM - I don't have a clue haven't gone to that site.

I seem to keep going back to Travelocity site b/c the best deal have any of you used them and how did they do?? Plus, never booked on line a little nervous about doing so, is it safe? Thanks

I've booked online with all of those sites plenty of times and haven't had any problems. Websites like Hotwire and Priceline can sometimes give you lower prices however they don't reveal the hotel until you pay. As long as you choose a hotel with more stars, the result isn't too bad. One website that I like to use is www.kayak.com because it will search various websites at the same time including the ones you mentioned. Booking online is fun once you get the hang of it. Good luck!

We seem to have the same observations. I like travelocity as well. Anyway, two more websites you might want to check would be:

www.tripadvisor.com - They have a lot of reviews on a LOT of hotels.

www.luxurylink.com - Only if you're interested in luxury hotels and cruises. They have auctions regularly with starting bids at half the price.

Where can I find the best travel deals from New York to Miami?

I am thinking of leaving from JFK, as I've found it to be significantly cheaper than LaGuardia and Newark Liberty and arriving in Miami from April 3-6... The prices just seem ridiculously high (it's cheaper to fly to Phoenix!), does anyone have any recommendations of a good site to look at? I've been looking at the usual; Expedia, Orbitz, Priceline, Hotwire, etc.

It's not the hotel that's the problem, I've seen ~$79/night rates in the Miami area, but the flight is just absolutely terrible. I can't find cheaper than $330. It's insane.

i think that this website will help you a lot

Can someone give me an honest opinion about Breezes resort in DOminican Republic?

Besides that resort, also COUPLES OCHOS RIOS in Jamaica... any advice would help! I am getting conflicting reviews off orbitz and other travel sites

I hear the breezes in punta cana is nice, but the breezes in puerto plata is very dated and has bad customer service. I stayed there in August 2006. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I have a detailed review with pics on tripadvisor.com

Travel deals?

just booked a flight and hotel deal on orbitz like 2 weeks ago, got a good deal, but I just checked online again today, price went down like 75 bucks for the exact same deal, I can't believe it. I thought booking advance would save money. Just need some advice on future booking. should I book only a week in advance? well, this time it's okay cause it's my grad school audition, I can't risk not having the hotel that is close by or the flight times that I want. BUT for next time, what's your advice? thanks to all you seasoned travelers.

When are you going? Usually it's best to book at least 21 days out - prices go up considerably any sooner than that.

There's a fairly new site out called Farecast that supposedly is able to help with knowing when to buy. I'm not sure how well it works, but it might be worth looking at, if you can ever risk waiting...

Thats too bad.Maybe its a poor service so its more cheaper.

How can i get the cheapest price on a hotel room that i've already selected?

i am going on a honeymoon here real soon, and i know the dates, i know the hotel, and i know the specific type of room that i want.

i need to get the cheapest price for that room...

i looked on expedia.com, travelocity.com, orbitz.com and the hotel website.

i havent called yet.

im not sure if a travel agent can get me a cheap enough price to offset the savings.

someone also recommended to me that i not reserve anything. they said i should just show up and that i might be able to get a room pretty cheap that way. im a little nervous about that because i dont want them to sell out (touristy area)

have i exhausted my options or is there something else i can try?

Boy someone gave you bad advice. Do not show up and expect a cheaper room. The opposite is true, showing up is more likely to be more expensive or sold out. If it is touristy like you say, then all the more likely it will be booked. If you are standing there at their front desk with luggage and far, far from home, the hotel knows they usually can dictate the price. And by the time your honeymoon comes around, you will be happy to have all the details taken care of.

Sometimes waiting a bit will help. If they aren't booking as fast as they like, or have a sale. Especially on line. So depending on how far off the trip is, you could take a chance and keep checking and checking. But it is a risk too, AND NOT leaving it until you show up.

You have researched prices. Give them a call. Ask availability, then ask the price. Let them know you are booking your honeymoon, and ask if there are any specials or cheaper rates. The main tip for getting better rates is calling and asking for a better rate.

I would not just show up and hope for a room -- your honeymoon is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and should not be left to chance.

Book your hotel room now! Since you already know where you want to stay, go ahead and reserve your room. Your honeymoon would be ruined if you showed up with no reservation in hand.

That being said, you'll most likely not find any cheaper prices than you've already found. Hotels, especially nicer resorts, set their prices a year in advance, and don't typically discount at all.

Might I suggest, tho, heading to http://www.resideo.com/ -- I've been using them a bunch lately. They have a great search feature, good information & typically have same rates as hotels.com, etc.

Good luck, have fun -- and CONGRATS!

where can I purchase airline tickets for really cheap other than yahoo travel, orbitz, kayak or hotwire.

Since you don't say where you need to fly, I'll answer your question as stated. http://www.ryanair.com fares from 1 penny + taxes; I've flown them, they are legit.

---- updated after you added info

No problem. Since this forum covers many countries, I had no idea where you needed to travel from. It would be nice to have Ryanair in the USA, though! Now that you updated your info, we now know that you need flights between NJ and FL.

Use http://www.farecompare.com to find the cheapest tickets. You don't have to worry about if one day is cheaper than another, of if connecting is cheaper than nonstop, how far advance you purchase, etc. etc. It starts out by showing you the cheapest with all of those conditions, then you track it down on a calendar by clicking on the days you want to travel. Here's Newark to Fort Lauderdale for $138 roundtrip, for example: http://www.farecompare.com/search/year.html?departure=EWR&destination=FLL&p=1 -- you can change the cities easily, so it helps you track down the best for your trip. Here's Newark-Ft. Myers for $118: http://www.farecompare.com/search/month.html?departure=EWR&destination=FMY&currency=USD&tripType=roundtrip&nonstops=false&p=1&cabin=Coach&date=20070701&key=f0aa9dcbf631d827185c98c7642e7590ae8b4d32321712cd Happy travels!

Priceline.com is ok, it works pretty well most of the time as long as you don't screw up typing in your bid or something. I tend to use them for car rentals or hotel rooms more often than for airfare. There are two newer site that doesn't exclude airlines like Expedia and Travelocity do: www.sidestep.com and www.skyauction.com. Side Step is the easy of the two to use, and I've always gotten the lowest non-bidding airline fare of any of the sites I've checked. Sky Auction is useful if you are an E-bay type who's willing to monitor the bids that build up for the tickets there. Regardless, the most important thing to do, I believe, is to search at least three different sites before buying the cheapest one on the first site, you know?

try expedia.com or travelocity.com oh and cheaptickets.com or you could bid on priceline.com

Try http://www.bbcarefreetravel.com and go to book travel. They list all different airlines and prices to choose from. Also you can submit your e-mail address and they will send you information about discounts for flights, cruises and hotel stays.

Need some cheap travel advice!!!?

I live in the Columbus Ohio area and am looking at going on a trip sometime this summer, between now and umm.. maybe mid Sept. Im wanting to keep the price under $450. Maybe some where on the water, or a city with lots of stuff to do (not New York). Anyone know any good sites, I have already looked into Expedia, Orbitz, and Travelocity. Also any great unknown of cities would be cool too, as long as there are things to do, outdoors, shopping, etc. THanks so much!!!

Portsmouth, New Hampshire. There is a new plane service from Columbus to Pease starting at 10 bucks. Skybus.com. Right across the river is a shoppers paradise in Kittery, Maine. You can go up to Portland as well.

How far in advance is the best time to book a flight to the caribbean to get the lowest fare?

Don't really care whether its through expedia or orbitz or one of those. Also, is it less expensive to fly during a certain weekday rather than weekends?

Travel agents need not answer.

It's not really any less expensive to book with expedia than it is to buy directly from the airlines so don't rule out the airline web sites. Some general rules of thumb:

-Buy as far in advance as possible. Flights are announced/scheduled 330-364 days in advance and the prices only go up from there (with the exception of the occasional sale but those are hard to predict)

-Buying from the airline *usually* gets you a lowest price guarantee, where if the airline drops their fares on the same trip, same day, they will give you a credit/voucher for the difference. Not all airlines do this so check carefully if you're counting on it.

-Travel on Tuesdays and Saturdays for the lowest fares. Fares tend to be highest on Sunday, Monday, Thursday and Friday because of all the business travellers

A great site is farecompare.com because it will show you week-by-week prices between two places for all the airlines; you might get a much better fare if you schedule your trip a week earlier or later than you'd planned.

check out Spirit Air. i saw on the news this morning they have some less than $10 flights to the caribbean, but they are limitied and you have to book early.

Getting cheap last-minute flights is actually a bit of a myth. Airlines now use advanced computerised systems which calculate what the airline can reasonably charge at, and at which people will buy. At its heart is the principle that there is a short supply of seats closer to the date of departure. People who need to travel will therefore pay more. This is called yield management. Conversely there are occasions when the yield management system will need to shed seats and thus prices can come down and you can get a bargain. Unfortunately that's relatively rare.

In my experience it is best to do a couple of things.

1. generally buy well in advance - minimum 14 days.

2. use kayak.co.uk to compare what sites are offering flights at what price - then check on the airline's own page whether its same/more expensive or cheaper.

3. try your best to avoid travelling on friday, sat, sun and mon - flights tend to be more expensive then as people go on holiday or business.

4. you can often find the same flight cheaper by connecting from a different airport (example follows).

I'm going on Holiday to Bangkok from London in May with Qantas. By actually flying to Munich and back into London to get the same Qantas flight out I saved 66%. Go figure.

Very useful to do this is orbitz.com who calculated a lot more workable permutations than expedia or lastminute will.

virgin-atlantic have some excellent prices to caribbean if you book a couple of months in advance.

hope that helps, have a great holiday!

my mum booked a holiday 4 four of us to go to Crete on the Internet, i think it was on aspor & for four adults it cost 595.00

that is bed & breakfast aswell. we are flying from bristol on a tuesday after bank holiday so i sugest u look the web and find a chep holiday, & i also recomend that you fly out to there on a week-day instead of the wee-end, as it will save u money. and if u like the flight meals keep them but my family doesnt like them so she took them off & that saved us 50 pounds, good luck in finding your holiday.

Hubby & I would like to take a vacation to see the Northern Lights and see actual glaciers as well. Any ideas?

I already checked with the normal travel websites (Orbitz, etc).

I would take a seven day glacier bay cruise on the Carnival Spirit.

Three cruise lines offer Alaska cruise-tours, Princess, Holland America and Royal Caribbean. There lines cruise the inside passage to Juneau, Skagway, Ketchkan, cruise by the claciers, and end up Anchorage (by tour bus -- 4 hr ride). Then you stay overnight in Anchorage with enough time to see that city and the next day board a train. Each cruise lines has its own special cars on the train reserved for its guests only. They serve meals and offer the opportunity to make additional stops and stay overs for a night or two in Telkeetna, and/or Denali National Park. Then on to Fairbanks.

That's is the best way to see Alaska. The Alaska cruise season is May to September and since it is a short cruise season the cruises do sell out. So you need to book early. We did the cruise tour on Princess a few years ago and it was great. Now I am not sure when the Northern lights are available, but since they are most likely visible when there is extended darkness the first May or last September cruises may be best and for sure you are more likely to see the lights further north than in Seward or Anchorage where most cruises end.

Apart from the cruise operators mentioned, there are plenty of people who do small group tours or private tours. One of my favorites is Geographic Expeditions. They specialize in adventure travel and do offer trips in Alaska.

Do you and your hubby travel alot? Maybe you should invest in your own travel website just like expedia or Orbitz. You can get paid to travel, have your own travel agent credentials (which means major discounts) as well as earn money off anyone else who books off your site. If interested check out www.ytb.com/amwright80 or to book travel with competitive rates visit www.whywaitgetgoing.com

How do I get the lowest airfare possible?

I'm planning on traveling from Atlanta to Los Angeles from July 30 to August 3. I've been checking airfare, and it's too expensive. Are there any tips for getting the lowest airfare possible? hi, If you are unfamiliar with portals or not sure about booking, there is anyother easier way to book, visit http://www.moneybulls.com/travels.htm where you only need to input your travel destination and dates, and click search. it will find the the lowest of all travel portals, websites, and airlines rates available for your dates, once you see the lowest fare available, you need to click on that fare and it will take you to that airline website or agency to book, then you need to make ur reservatio nonline and u are done. this process will only take 10-15 min in all . best part is, it will help you search, compare and book directly without commission.

www.farecompare.com, try to book ur flight as EARLY as possible, example if you have to leave in 2 months try to book exactly two months or more from now... hope that makes sense but farecompare.com is cheap.

They use major travel websites but somehow get under the main stream and get you the flight for cheaper

with fuel prices deals are not what they use to be,but travel between Mon -wed for best deals...and no book early as you can,i think 21 days in advance is a discount.

Hello,

I am a travel agent http://www.cassandralanetravel.org

priceline.com is the cheapest that I've seen by about $200.

www.bookingbuddy.com

Kayak.com usually weekdays...tuesday or wednesday after midnight but before 6am

check http://asianairfares.com

If you can't use the on line travel agencies then what do you want anyone on here to tell you? If you are unfamiliar with Travelocity or Orbitz or whatever... then you need to GET familiar with them because it can take 4 or 5 HOURS to get the absolute lowest air fare these days and that is a LOT OF WORK to ask a stranger to do for you.

As a practical matter, there is NO SUCH THING as a cheap flight any longer... With 7 airlines that have gone bankrupt this year, 20,000 airline employees that have been fired or laid off, an entire fleet of 737's that has been grounded and surcharges through the roof... there is NO SUCH THING as a cheap flight.

I looked at http://www.sidestep.com/s/flights.jsp?searchid=zr5TNQM4F63_TKy$plMTeA&completed=true

and the cheapes flight ticket on there is $415 thorugh Spirit Airlines.

Airtran has a big hub in Atlanta, and I found really cheap fares for our vacation this year through this airline. But for your trip, it unfortunately looks like it would be over $400 round trip each.

http://airtran.com/Home.aspx

See, a lot of times you should book at least 30 days in advance because the prices jump up within that 30 days. Since we are in the month of July, the flights are more expensive everywhere.

If you could drive the 2 hours to get to the airport in Birmingham, AL, Southwest has flights around $372 total for July 30- August 4.

http://www.southwest.com/cgi-bin/lowFareFinder?ss=0&disc=0:11:1215114136.955369:141@EF42566A7FD2522AE7E9C1FCC5BB634E5AC4688D

If there is any way you can wait until at least the 12th of August, the rates drop down to between $128 and $159 each way. And in September, most of them become $128 each way.

I'm sorry I couldn't help you more.

Travel Agents will find the same deals, so they wouldn't really be able to hep you much I wouldn't think, and if you wait until the last minute, the prices could go way up, or the seats could sell out.

Where can I find cheap airline tickets to Brazil(roundtrip) from Austin,TX?

I want to go to Brazil in December for weeks. I have already looked at a lot of websites like expedia,hotwire,travel.samsclub,traveloc... cheapAir, cheaptickets, kayak. Are there anymore I can try one especially made for people going to South America? Does anyone know a good travel agency?

Well if you want cheap airfare, then go to Priceline.com and start out bidding low.

We did this when we went to Brazil last August and we also did it 3 years prior to this trip.

The first time we went, we got the tickets really cheap, but the 2nd time the price jumped a couple hundred dollars. So I will suggest that you purchase your tickets on a late Tuesday or early Wednesday.....these days ticket prices seem to be lower.

Priceline is great, just be patient they will accept your bid. Go in 25-50 dollar increments till they do. Be smart and take the insurance...you never know what could happen prior to your trip.

Also do you have your Passport? do you know you need a Visa stamp in order to get into Brazil? Look up the Brazilian Consulate in your area......you may have to do an internet search...there are very few states that have them. We got ours in Chicago ( i live in michigan)

Have fun...we did ...we were in Rio de Janeiro...beautiful city, but very dangerous!! Dont go out past dark...unless you are with Brazilian friends.

umm..try air tran airlines

Where in Brazil do you want to go !!?? Brazil is virtually the same size as the USA with just about the same population! I own a travel agency and I am 99% sure that I can get you a lower airfare than anything you can find on the net..But I would need to know exactly where you are going. Do you wish to return from the same point of arrival? What are the dates, are these dates flexible? Do you want the cheapest possible fare (non-flexible)? Are you willing to make multiple conections to get wherever you are going, etc etc?

Out of all the travel websites?

like

priceline

hotels

orbitz

etc.

Which is the best? Most affordable? Nice hotels?

I use www.awitravel.com. click on Book Travel Now to research

http://www.myexoticvacations.com/ they cheap and taxes are included and there is a rep that can be contacted on the home page whenever you need help

What is the best website to get deals on all inclusive resorts in cancun?

I have already checked all of the most common sites (travelocity, orbitz, expedia), so I am looking for either a travel agent or a good website that might have better deals for a 4 night stay in cancun, August 16-20.

I am actually going to Cancun Aug. 16'th for a week. My husband and I go there 3 to 4 times a year and we always book with www.itravel2000.com we travel last minute and have never found another website to beat there prices. For a weeks stay at the temptation resort which is a 4* hotel, we got a price of $630.00 plus tax (this is all inclusive with a flight out of Toronto). Good luck!

Hello,

How are you? Here is the best website to get great deals on all-inclusive resorts in Cancun http://www.cassandralanetravel.org click the "Hotels" tab at the top, then, near the bottom you will see a box that says "Hotels.com", click the "Go" button and proceed from there.

Here are some Cancun all-inclusive resort choices for you:

*Great Parnassus Resort and Spa

*Temptation Resort and Spa

*Sens Cancun

*Oasis Cancun

Hey, if you want travel deals emailed to your inbox, go to the bottom right of the website, and you will see a box that says "Deals and Steals Newsletter", enter your information and press the "Submit" button.

Happy Traveling!!!

I have been to Cancun several times and I own a timeshare with the Palace Resorts. I also am a member of two discount travel clubs. You can find out more info about both at http://www.dreamcancunresorts.com

As far as finding several nights of travel vs a week for an all inclusive resort, you might want want to consider joining a travel club membership like the one I belong to at http://www.lovethetravelbug.com You can get discount travel vouchers for short stay vacations once you become a member. Another place you can go for discounts is Ebay. Sometimes there are whole weeks that can be as inexpensive as a few days. Most of the all inclusive places require a 7 day stay and then you can add another three days if you'd like unless you go through one of the membership clubs or pay more.

go to www.applevacations.com my husband and I love to travel. We stayed at the Moon Palace it was so awesome and beautiful. everyone was so nice and catered to our every need. Make sure you book the chitzen itza tour and climb the pyramid. It's amazing also the jewelry is totally unweighed down with metals the Jade is pure the silver is pure and the food fun and clubs are to die for. We're going again soon!!!!!!

FYI we went to the apple vacations travel agent it was easier and cheaper

I prefer worryfreevacations.com. You might also try:

Is there a website that allows 15-17 buy a ticket and travel alone?

hi i have a cousin who need to get to ontario toronto but the problem is he is 15 and i need resources , something like orbitz and other websites that allow you to buy the ticket

Unfortnately, websites require credit cards, and credit cards aren't issued to childen your age.

i am not sure if they will sell to someone that age (i dont think it would be a problem because you can legally get on the plane (with a passport) so i dont see the problem) but if they do, and the credit card is the only thing standing in your way, go to CVS or other places and buy a Visa/master card Green dot card its basically a pre-paid credit card.

you buy a card and pay however much you want to put on the card, for example if you wanted $138.64 on the card, you would pay $138.64 (plus a $10 activation fee). its fairly simple. but the hard part is once you get the card, you have to call a number to get the card sent/activated you wont physically need the card to buy stuff, just the number, which i think is provided.

i just sell the cards, i dont know exactly how they work.

the only problem would be figuring everything out really.

its called go to the bus station and pay with cash. online sites want credit cards.

if he can use his parents credit card or something, just about any website will allow you to travel as long as you are 15 or over.

here is a website that explains it.

If you have access to a travel agency that specializes to trips in Greece check out with them too. Sometimes they buy bulk seats in frequent flights to Greece and can pass the discounts to you.

So, what's your question?? This far in advance you have the cheapest options offered to you now on the airlines websites. You arent going to find anything lower. Again, Durango is NOT a discounted city. I believe in your original post you were looking for tickets for 7 people and I sent you the fares. Thats the best you're gonna do. Travel sites especially the ones you listed above are traps. You honestly will find cheaper fares with the 3 airlines that service Durango. Otherwise, check the larger airports close to Durango.

We're a travel agency in Colorado and would be happy to help you. Go to www.magiccarpet.travel and contact us thru the website.

What is the best way to book vacation from US to Canada (Montreal or Toronto)?

Hi Guys,

I am thinking about taking a trip to Canada (Montreal or Toronto - not sure yet but probably Montreal). I am planing to spend about 5 days (4 nights) there. What is the best way (the cheapest) to book for plane tickets, hotel, and maybe a rental car.

I have looked thru different booking sites (expedia, travelocity, orbitz, priceline and travel.yahoo.com). They are about the same price. I just wonder if there are better ways than those sites that I don't know about.

Also, I am new to traveling. There are some questions that you guys might be able to help me with.

1.) Should I try to avoid low rate hotels (For example: 1 or 2 star hotels)? How many stars of hotels do most people choose?

2.) In Montreal and Toronto, are there any areas that I should try to avoid?

3.) In Montreal and Toronto, if I choose a hotel close to the Airport. Can I travel to donwtown area without having a car?

Any info about the above questions is greatly appreciated

Thank guys

if you're flying from the US, try http://www.site59.com. They have package deals with flight, hotel and/or car-rental. There are coupons floating around to for $25 off. If your package is over $700, you can use the code SITE59ESCAPE100 to get $59 off.

I've been to both cities many times (prefer Montreal - by far). Toronto is like a big american city. Both cities are relatively safe if you stay central.

As was mentioned, don't stay at an airport hotel in either city--they are way out in the middle of nowhere, and who needs the hassle of commuting. I know Toronto better than Montreal, since I live there, so check out the Toronto websites (if Toronto is your choice) and see if you can get a downtown hotel at a decent price. Book early, they fill up fast. Or better yet, rent a car and see both cities. Toronto to Montreal is about a 5 hour drive.

In Toronto, avoid the Jane-Finch corridor (Regent Park)-a rather dangerous area.

Happy travels.

The airports near both are nowhere near the downtown area. You really do not need a car in either place. The transit system is very good. If you fly, you will need a passport. I have been to both, but I am in Montreal more often. I have never been afraid of being out late at night in either place. I do not trust others rating hotels. What I may rate as a 2 star, you may rate as a 4.

Book your own. It is easier.

Orbit's or Travel Agent?

Hi, I am 19 and I don't have a credit card yet and I want t book a flight to New York. Should I try and get a credit card or can I go to a Travel Agent, I heard that Orbitz is cheaper than booking with a Travel Agent. so what should I do.

Thank you

I like making my own plans and doing my own booking, which is why I don't go with travel agents. You should try kayak.com, which searches multiple sites for you and gives you their rates in any order you specify (by price, by distance, etc.). You can also try tripadvisor.com, which allows you to read reviews by fellow travelers on hotels, flights, and attractions, lets you look at their photos, and will even let you do the multil search thing.

You'll find a bit of a discount by using a travel site. Be sure that your credit card doesn't have an annual fee, or you'll be pretty much breaking even by getting a card specifically for travel.

For a flight to NY, the difference would be minimal for using an agent; if you're new to booking travel, I suggest you use an agent for your first time.

Orbit's, travel agents make commision!

Where is the best place to look for cheap airline flights?

Although you spend hours upon hours looking for the best price while trying to compromise, price, schedule, accessability , and importance, I have found that the best two searches are found in travel.yahoo.com and also orbitz.com Although there are many sights in between, that you could save you a couple extra dollars, why spend all those extra hours comparing and penny-pinching just to save a couple of extra bucks. Save the extra time you would be spending and use is to think about other aspects of the trip, like the "In-Laws!"

www.sidestep.com

Indipendent website:

Good luck.

It does take a lot of time, but if you look hard enough and long enough, you will usually get a really good price and save a lot of money. Usually, the airlines sites are still cheaper than Orbitz and Yahoo!

When I fly commercial airlines, I just go to their website and find the best flight for me, it's quick and easy. Plus, I think that the airlines are easier to work with than the online discounters. Of course now when I want commercial air, I just book it with the rest of my package so I don't have to mess with it.

I am looking for good deals for hotels in the Miami or Fort Lauderdale areas. Can you help me locate a deal?

I will be in that area from Jan 29 - Feb 3. I've tried all the travel websites (i.e. Orbitz, expedia, hotwire, priceline, travelocity) but find that all of the hotels that are decent (including places like Super 8 or Best Western) are over $100/night. Do you know of any nice but inexpensive places to stay?

Travelodge, Day's inn, comfort suites ... are coming under $100 on those dates. Check these links below. It will show the prices for all hotels for the dates you have specified.

Best way to book a trip to the carribbean?

I would like to book a year in advance, meaning I want to travel in June of 08. I'd like to pay on the trip monthly. Can you recommend a good place to start? I already know about orbitz, travelocity, etc. I'd like a good travel agency.

This is what I recomend you to do...

1.Look for information on the island you want to go. I will recomend you the US Virgin Islands, St Martin, St Barths or the British Virgin Islands.

2. Look for info on hotels... in most hotels you can hold the room with a deposit or a credit card number. Sometimes just the name on the reservation will do. You can also get an idea on how much hotels are and save the money to reserve when the date is closer (I think you will save money this way).

3. The other recomendation is that you can take a cruise. RCCL does southern Caribbean cruises from San Juan visiting Aruba, Curacao, St Martin and St Thomas. You can make a reservation with $250.00 per person and pay off the balance 90 days prior to the cruise. Carnival also have cruises from San Juan.

http://www.rhodatravel.com

I alway start my research at vacationstogo.com. You can check by size of ship, itinerary, date, or star rating of ship. I get a general idea of a price and then shop around. If you go with a TA ask "if the price goes down, will you rebate that amount to me?" If not go to another agent. Some do some don't. A year out is NOT to early to book a cruise. You can get your choice of cabins that way. I book inside (no window) so that I can afford a 10 day instead of a 7 day outside ( with a window). You can also ask veteran cruisers any question at cruiseaddicts.com or cruisecritics.com. They love to share their cruising experiences. Bon voyage.

A year in advance is going to be tough. Some summer iteneraries aren't set up until the fall. We booked our June 07 cruise last September and it was pushing it.

Best way to pay monthly is to figure out how much you plan to pay based on this year's cruise rates, divide by X months, and put the money away monthly. Our agent required some money down up front and the total about 3 months in advance, so we were able to "pay monthly" to ourselves for 6 months. It worked out nicely.

As for travel agents, try calling going to the yellow pages and call a few. We called several before someone even answered!! We tried 2 more places--with no answer--and then chatted with the first agent and got prices. We took those prices and compared them to travelocity and orbitz and the deal was actually better from the agent. Plus the agent has been able to give us tips on shore excursions and used her connection to the cruise company--she books more trips than we do--to work the upgrade game. I recommend the agent, but shop the prices, always shop the prices.

And don't forget to set aside a little extra for fun bucks on the way!!

What airline would you recommend?

I will (hopefully) be sailing the skies, by next year. I will (pending my acceptance to the Art Institute) be living in San Francisco. So what airline would you recommend? or ic i could get some other travel agencies besides orbitz and travelocity. I appreciate most comments :)

and if you would do me a favor and wish me luck into the art institute. Not neccessary but its a school i really want to get into. Thanks.

As others have mentioned (I think), what airline you can choose from depends on where you are traveling from. I have never had a problem with Southwest and United has been ok. Here's a place to look up whatever airline you're thinking of using. http://www.airlinequality.com/

You might be able to get a cheaper flight by booking directly on the airlines own website, but you can also look here:

www.kayak.com

www.sidestep.com

www.expedia.com

www.tripadvisor.com (which also has info on San Francisco in the forums section)

Good luck with getting accepted into the Art Institute!!!!

You are better off going to local travel agencies. Sometimes they offer better prices than the internet companies... no hidden fees.

As some others have said, I'd avoid Delta. One reason for this is because you will probably have to change planes in Atlanta, which should be avoided at all costs. If you fly American, DFW is a more likely change-over, and since the new train is up and running. DFW is a breeze to navigate. I'd be wary of Continental for 2 reasons: IAH (Houston Int.) and Regional Jets. Changing planes at the Continental terminal in IAH is awful, and regional jets are OK for short hops, but I was on one for 3 hours from IAH to Boise. And Continental seems to use them a lot.

As for travel sites, I always recommend Mobissimo.com. I think it is a far more comprehensive site than some others.

Good luck in art college!

most US airlines are pretty poor so go for the cheapest

i would recommend United Airlines from PDX to SF my mom took that flight all the way to Phoenix Arizona to see my great cousin

i enjoy traveling Jet Blue. cheap prices, GREAT service, more or less a comfy ride with your own personal little screen to watch TV or whatever... not a huge selection of drinks as far as alcoholic beverages go... but i would highly recommend this airline. i use it to fly from l.a. to new york from time to time, and I've never had a complaint.

NEVER NEVER AND NEVER go to Delta Airlanes they suck. This August I was going to Mexico with my family and when they was weighing the bag it was supposly over there limit and they charge us 25 dollars, I think we lost like 75 dollars. SO UNLESS YOU REALLY HAVE TO DON'T GO TO DELTA AIRLANES THEY SUCK!!!! I will try Continental airlanes if I was you because the first time I went there it was comfy the service was great, the people working the airplane was nice. It just overall a great airlane. Oh and btw Goodluck with your air insitiude. And can you post some details on your question, saying that you read my comment because you need to know that Delta Suck lol.

I've traveled many times to SE Asia and have almost always for the best prices at China Airlines. EVA is not too bad either. Schedule directly online at China Airlines website for the best deals. Don't use an agency.

lufthansa and delta in my op were the best good luck for your school

If money is no object, I'd recommend United Airlines or Continental. They are a little more expensive, but you get better food and amenities than some other airlines. Sorry to say I don't know much about the on-line travel agents. The only ones I have experienced are the 2 you mentioned plus Expedia.com.

Best of luck to you on applying to the Art Institute. I have a friend who is in his last semester there. Great school!

i used to work right across the street from there :)

it really depends on where you are coming from, how long your flight will be, and how much you want to spend.

The Art Institute is a really good school, I see alot of their buses going around in the city. By the way, I live in San Francisco.

What airline... Depends where you are coming from, doesn't it...

If you want to know some stuff about San Francisco, email me. I can definetely tell you about it.

Continental has great service, good drinks, but older interiors on most planes. American has a minimal drink service but WAY more comfy seats.

I travelled several times with American Airlines and I was always satisfied. Although I did not go to California, I went to Chicago with them and used Delta Airlines many times, but I don't know if they fly to California.
