This is what I do. I check through www.sidestep.com which allows me to compare flight schedules and prices for almost all airlines (more than Orbitz compares). Then I go to the airline's website to see if it offers a lower fare if I buy from it direct.
I generally end up buying from either the airline website or from Travelocity.com because they will stand behind their product - guaranteeing to see that any problems you may have with hotel, etc. are resolved And because they often offer better package deal than do the airlines website. But, if it's only an airfare I'm looking for, I'll usually use the airline's website ultimately.
They all work the same way: you pay by credit card online at the time you make your reservation. You will receive an email confirmation and a lnk for printing out an electronic ticket. With most of the airlines, you have the option to choose your seats online at the time you make the reservations; others actually allow you to see a chart of the plane and know what seats are still available before you make your purchase so you can check for another flight if you don't like where the available seats are located.
The fares are less online because they are all processed from the same location; not as much money is required for the overhead of maintaining brick-and-mortar offices in multiple locations.
Hi,
I have used Orbitz several times. Fortunately, I have never had a problem. I paid with credit card, I got my confirmation and that is it. The price difference between your travel agency and orbitz is high. Check it again and be sure that you select two persons. Sometimes, even though, you select it, the page shows you the price for one. Once you have selected the complete itinerary the total price is shown.
Have a nice trip!
Orbitz is a fine way to get tickets - as long as you don't need any help or have any problems. The big advantage of a travel agent is that they have that kind of expertise. Keep in mind that air travel is a very strangely priced comodity.
You have two choices here. First of all, have you actualy booked (i.e. given a credit card number) to either Orbitz or the travel agent? If so, you may have tickets and should be careful. You don't want to pay for four tickets!
If you have not actually purchased tickets, then you can either buy the tickets online at Orbitz (they will send you a confirmation email) or you can tell the Travel Agent what you found at Orbitz and ask her to look into the least expensive seats on that itinerary. She should be able to meet or come close to the same price.
i use online bookings all the time and have never had a problem
ive used cheapairfares.com and expedia.com
I have never used Orbitz but I have used Southwest. They are pretty easy to use and offer lots of vacation packages to suit your needs. You can even get tickets to shows that are playing or attractions that are available in your destination city. Try it out you can get a price and compare. I like southwest because they offer a lot of non stop flights!!!
Yeah, in this day and age, you really don't need a travel agent. All you need is the Internet. I think the only reason to use an agent now is if you either don't have time or are too lazy to make the arrangements yourself. They rarely even get any special discounts anymore that the public doesn't already have access to. And when looking for bookings for you, they will just stop at the first thing they see rather than hunting around to find you a cheaper deal. I always buy my tickets online, usually through Orbitz, but sometimes through Travelocity.com or Travelzoo.com. All you do is put in a search for the flight and hotel deal you're looking for and these sites will generate several options. You click on what you want, pay for it with a credit card, and they e-mail you a confirmation. It's all really easy. Good luck with your honeymoon!
I use Orbitz for all our flight travel. After choosing your flight, you will get a confirmation email, with copies of etickets, which are tickets your print at home. You can even choose your flight seats from the sight, too. Its pretty easy and self explanitory.
Good luck and have fun on your trip!!!
The air line you should use is united. Thats atleast what I would do.
